Algebra

After playing with Indie rock bands such as Parazit and Machnick in late 90’s to early 2000’s, Swiss Lausanne-raised producer Gregory Poncet moved towards minimal house and electronic with duo Digitaline and his solo project Gregorythme. Following 10 years producing mostly club music, effortlessly blurring the lines between dance and electronic composition, Gregory Poncet has decided to focus to anther side of his musical background, Pop, introducing now his new moniker Algebra. Since 2016, with releases such as Rational EP, on his own imprint Raoul, or Tears of Joy on Creaked, he has clearly got its sights set on the pop imagination.

Recorded and co-produced by Marcin de Morsier, Algebra's debut album Aphantasia is characterized by bringing together simplicity and complexity. By blending DIY songwriting, sound textures, spontaneity, Lo-Fi esthetics to electro-synth pop and a "four to the floor" spirit with a sensitive grasp of dynamics, Algebra has mastered a distinct and personal music mood : weird intimate folk songs on top with fat and warm bass beneath.
