Born in Taiwan R.O.C. to a rocket scientist father and a kindergarten teacher mother, David Wang, aka Mochipet, did not get his start in music until the ripe age of 15, when the lure of a metal guitar overtook him in Livermore, California. Rocking through a set of 2" speakers and a cheap stiletto six-string, David Wang conjured up the forces which began his music adventure.
Over his career Mochipet has worked with artists such as: Ellen Allien, Otto Von Schirach, Spank Rock, Kid606, Mikah9, Weasel Walter, Paul Costuros, and Legendary Skateboarder Ray Barbee. His upcoming releases include collaborations with Dopestyle, Casual and Opio, Raashan Ahmad, Jahcoozi, Spaceheater, Al Haca Soundsystem, 215 Freshest Kids, Geoff White / Aeroc and Daedelus.
David Wang has also held residencies at [Eraser] Club (Los Angeles) and Trouble Club (San Francisco) along side fellow musicians: 8fm/[a]pendics shuffle, John Tejada, Pieter K, Edit, Kid606, Josh Kit Clayton, Sue Constabile, Sindri, Uprock, Matt Laszuk, Philip Sherburne, and Sutekh. He currently helps host experimental music nights in the Greater Bay Area.
Mochipet's music has also caught the ear of the Sports and Skateboarding world. You may have heard his songs being featured on Fuel TV and Directv Payperview with skate legends such as: Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Christian Hasoi, Ray Barbee, Laban Pheidias, Jason "Weeman" Acuna, Rob Dyrdek, and Anthony Van Engelen.
And, if all this is not enough, his work Dessert Search for Techno Baklava has been performed by a 20 piece orchestra, Alarm Will Sound, notably at New York's Carnegie Hall and Amsterdam's Holland Festival!
