After establishing himself in the late '90s and early 2000s with indie rock bands like Parazit and Machnick, Swiss producer Gregory Poncet began to explore the realms of minimal house and electronic music through his duo Digitaline and his solo project Gregorythme. Over a decade dedicated to producing club music allowed him to master the art of blending genres, effortlessly merging dance beats with intricate electronic compositions.

However, Gregory Poncet felt a pull toward a different musical direction, leading to the birth of his new project, Algebra, where he aims to explore the captivating world of pop. Algebra's debut album, Aphantasia, released in early 2022, marked a pivotal shift in his musical journey. Co-produced with Marcin de Morsier, the album is characterized by its seamless fusion of simplicity and complexity. It showcases Poncet’s unique approach to DIY songwriting, weaving together rich sound textures, lo-fi aesthetics, and electro-synth pop elements.
